A Reagan Republican remembers these words...
"Our friends in the other party will never forgive us for our success, and are doing everything in their power to rewrite history. Listening to the liberals, you'd think that the 1980s were the worst period since the Great Depression, filled with suffering and despair. I don't know about you, but I'm getting awfully tired of the whining voices from the (Clinton)White House these days. They're claiming there was a decade of greed and neglect, but you and I know better than that. We were there." -- RNC Annual Gala, Feb. 3, 1994
"When you see all that rhetorical smoke billowing up from the Democrats, well ladies and gentleman, I'd follow the example of their nominee; don't inhale."
Ronald Reagan -- Republican National Convention, 1992.
"Republicans believe every day is 4th of July,
but Democrats believe every day is April 15th."
"A friend of mine was asked to a costume ball a short time ago.
He slapped some egg on his face and went as a liberal economist."
"Although the political landscape has changed, the bold ideas of the 1980's are alive and well. Republican candidates swept every major election across the country last year... and as a result, it seems that our opponents have finally realized how unpopular liberalism really is. So now they're trying to dress their liberal agenda in a conservative overcoat." -- RNC Annual Gala, Feb. 3, 1994
"The Democrats say that the United States has had its days in the sun, that our nation has passed its zenith. They expect you to tell your children that the American people no longer have the will to cope with their problems, that the future will be one of sacrifice and few opportunities. My fellow citizens, I utterly reject that view." -- Ronald Reagan
FOR SHAME !!!
Here's a NYC shout-out with howling jeers and wet, stinking "Brooklyn cheers" to John Kerry. What a lousy hypocrite. Yesterday he promised to cease active campaigning until President Ronald Reagan is buried Friday evening. NOT.
"We're going to suspend any sort of overtly political rallies," Mr. Kerry, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, told reporters after attending Mass at St. Anthony's Shrine in Boston's financial district. (At least we can be sure that he did not profane the Holy Eucharist THERE through his pro-abortion mouth. On Theodore Cardinal McCarrick's turf, perhaps, but NOT there. -- Not with the stringent new Bishop in town, +Seán Patrick O'Malley.)
Those fund-raisers here in NYC and in Los Angeles - featuring leftists Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Jon Bon Jovi, etc. - had been expected to yield several million dollars for the campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Besides the postponed fund-raisers, Mr. Kerry canceled trips to Arizona, Pennsylvania and back to Ohio, all expected to be important states in the fall election, as well as a visit to Colorado, typically GOP turf he is hoping to contest this November.
Since his daughter, Alexandra, graduates from the American Film Institute tomorrow, most likely he won't attend President Reagan's state funeral at the Capitol on Wednesday evening. How convenient. He plans to spend the balance of the week in private meetings in Washington. "I have a lot to do, don't worry,'' Mr. Kerry told reporters traveling with him.
We're not worried. But why are we not surprised?
Both candidates promised to suspend commercials for 24 hours on Friday to remove partisanship from the airwaves on the day of former President Ronald Reagan's funeral. Stephanie Cutter, a spokeswoman for Mr. Kerry, said: "There are moments where partisan differences must be put aside for the better of the nation. Friday is one of those moments."
$$ Smart $$ -- but NOT "respectful". He realizes that he is out of media focus anyway with our nation in mourning for its most esteemed fallen leader who won his election by the largest landslide.
He lied. Some might prefer to call this more double talk from both sides of his mouth. He lied! His sanctioned mud slinging is in full force on at least both his official John Kerry blog and the "Democratic Underground" blog. The guy has no class, just sheer crass and contempt.
I would repeat the classic question posed by Joseph Welch to Wisconsin Sen. Joseph McCarthy: (Which was 50 years ago tomorrow) "....Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
That being said, it's obvious that the Internet is considered fair territory by his kind. Okay then, the blinders and gloves come off. I never liked or respected him anyway.
PS: Go ahead and litigate me, Kerry, et al. We don't take any federal monies. Sic the IRS on me. Our 501 (c) (3) is still pending anyway. Besides, this isn't political. Now it's personal.
Spirit of "76 ALIVE in USS Ronald Reagan
In the words of our golden 50th President, "Let friend and foe alike know that America has the muscle to back up its words." That muscle -- and fierce, patriotic Spirit of ''76 -- is also alive in the USS Ronald Reagan(CVN-76). Fittingly, she was the only ship in the U.S. Navy ever to bear the name of a living president.
During Ronald Reagan's two terms as President (1981-1989), he was a strong advocate of naval power, calling for a 15-carrier, 600-ship Navy. He initiated five Nimitz-class carriers on his watch. His use of naval power was evident during three major military operations – Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada, 1983); Operation El Dorado Canyon (Libya, 1986); and Operation Praying Mantis (Iran, 1988).
The air power muscle of the nation's newest carrier is transported by two nuclear reactors capable of more than 20 years of continuous service without refueling, providing virtually unlimited range and endurance, and a top speed in excess of 30 knots. The ship will support a wide variety of aircraft, including the F/A-18 Hornet and F/A-18 Super Hornet strike fighters, the F-14 Tomcat fighter, the E-2 Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft, the C-2 Greyhound logistics aircraft, the S-3 Viking anti-submarine aircraft, the EA-6 Prowler electronic warfare aircraft and the multi-role SH-60 and MH-60 helicopters.
This Nuclear-Powered Aircraft Carrier and her 5,500 crew members departed Norfolk Naval Station on May 27th -- ironically, just nine days before its namesake completed his earthly pilgrimage. The ship will be under way for nearly two months while circumnavigating around the tip of South America. The Navy’s newest nuclear-powered and most technologically-advanced aircraft carrier will be heading for its official homeport at Balboa Naval Hospital after leading the OR for many years as the Perioperative Nursing Department Head at the Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington.
Her Fleet Hospital Bremerton command recently returned from their deployment to Naval Hospital Rota in Spain where they tended our troops wounded in Iraq. Soon to have American eagle devices on her collars and a captain's fourth bar added to her boards, I'm hoping and praying that she will retire soon with the rate of a rear admiral. I'm sure that President Reagan would favor that. He liked her.
Among her many assignments since the Viet Nam conflict (while an Ensign), she was one of President Reagan's nurses at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., ("Betheseda Naval Hospital") from March-April 1981. At that time he was close to death after his attempted assasination as he left the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. As he entered the operating room, mortally wounded, he quipped to his surgeons, "I hope you're all Republicans." The President also had surgery there again in 1985 for colon cancer. And Nancy had surgery for her breast cancer there during his Presidency.
President George W. Bush awarded The Congressional Gold Medal to both the former President & First Lady on May 16, 2002.
"Man the ship and bring her alive!" said former First Lady Nancy Reagan when she commissioned the ship at Naval Station Norfolk last July 12th. (She also did the honors at the ship's christening on March 4, 2001.) It lives almost as big as Ronnie's spirit. Godspeed and God Bless America.
Dear Lord,
There's a young man far from home,
called to serve his nation in time of war;
sent to defend our freedom
on some distant foreign shore.
We pray You keep him safe,
we pray You keep him strong,
we pray You send him safely home...
for he's been away so long.
There's a young woman far from home,
serving her nation with pride.
Her step is strong, her step is sure,
there is courage in every stride.
We pray You keep her safe,
we pray You keep her strong,
we pray You send her safely home ...
for she's been away too long.
Bless those who await their safe return.
Bless those who mourn the lost.
Bless those who serve this country well,
no matter what the cost.
