Prayer for the Victims of the South Asian Tsunami

Let us Pray:

Most merciful Father, we ask for Your Mercy upon the souls of Your children who have lost their earthly lives in the Earthquake/Tsunami in Asia. Help them, LORD, to enter into a place of comfort, light and peace, and into eternal refreshment. May they know Your merciful and ineffable Goodness and Love. May they know suffering and tears no more.

Divine Master, grant that those who have lost loved ones may be consoled, even in the midst of not understanding this horrible tragedy. May they be gifted with Your eternal Love and Peace. May they see in each other Your shining Love and Caring, though none of us can make sense of any of it.

LORD, give strength and forbearance, energy and courage to those who are so committed and engaged in the rescue and recovery in Asia. May Your Most Holy Spirit guide their every step and action, so that they may be a source of help and comfort to those surviving.

Finally, LORD, may all of us who are in pain and shock over the seeming senselessness of this horrible tragedy find a way to accept and understand as best we can, even though we too find it incomprehensible. And give us gratitude that we have been, for now, in a place of safety. Grant all this, O Father, in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Who with You and The Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, One God, world without end. AMEN.
